Wexford Food Fair 2010
Foodies and lovers of fine foods can look forward to the return of Wexford Food Fair on Wednesday, 19th May in Whites Hotel at 4 pm. Wexford Food Fair, now in its second year is a celebration of the quality, diversity and wholesomeness of foods produced in County Wexford.
Wexford Food Fair will begin with a food-hall experience at 4 pm in Whites Hotel where visitors can avail of free tastings and samples of well known Wexford food producers of seafood, cheese, cured meats, dairy products and much more. The food-hall experience is designed to showcase the culinary tradition and vibrancy that County Wexford has to offer.
This year’s fair will play host to culinary celebrity chefs Neven Maguire of acclaimed MacNean House & Restaurant and Phelim Byrne of Phelim Byrne Professional Catering Services & Cookery Academy. Both chefs will perform cookery demonstrations of signature dishes using local produce beginning at 8 pm, tickets priced €20 are available from Wexford Arts Centre and Wexford Insurances. Attendees will receive a complimentary glass of wine.
The food fair was created to highlight the strong tradition of Wexford food producers and to bring them face-to-face with consumers. The sponsors of the fair, Wexford Creamery, Wexford County Enterprise Board, Wexford Insurances and Graphedia hope the fair will encourage people to support locally produced food and help protect food related jobs in the County.

Wexford Creamery was named Brand of the Year at the 2010 South East Marketing Awards.
The judges commented that they were impressed with Wexford Creamery’s strong local credentials which were ably brought to life through innovative integrated marketing campaigns throughout the year.
The event was held at Mount Juliet Hotel, Thomastown and the other finalists in the Brand of the Year category were Sam McCauleys and Utopia Flowers.

Success at the 6th Annual Sustainable Energy Awards 2009
Wexford Creamery scooped first prize at the 6th Annual Sustainable Energy Awards 2009 held in Dublin’s Crowne Plaza Hotel on Thursday 19th November.
The all-Ireland event awards excellence in Business Energy Management and this year-included entries from over 100 companies. Wexford Creamery managed to take the gold, on their first year entering the awards, beating some very replicable companies including Glanbia, Merck, Sharpe & Domhe & Masonite Ireland
Wexford’s entry into Category A – ‘Leading Energy Efficiency Project’ took the top spot for its EASI Project (Energy Awareness Savings Initiatives), which was implemented by the Energy Team headed by Tom Kelly, Engineering Manager & Nicola Cooney, Project Co-ordinator.
The Energy Team implemented an intensive 10-week energy efficiency project, working closely with operators and maintenance personnel to carry out a range of actions including monitoring, energy audits and adjusting production schedules. Within ten weeks Wexford Creamery reduced usage by almost 50%. Judges Comments included ‘Exemplar project shows what can be done on an older plant through a programme of simpler measures by a concerted effort from enthusiastic staff. Very replicable.’
